H.C. Andersens Hus

H.C. Andersens Hus stands as an homage to the life and art of the celebrated Hans Christian Andersen. Following a recent and comprehensive renovation, the museum now encapsulates Andersen's legacy in a new and modern light. Through extensive research for my bachelor project, i made a crucial observation: the museums presence across all platforms were not conveying the same message of the new museum nor H.C. Andersen himself. Therefore a new identity was needed to align its identity and the experience of the physical museum, to ensure the museums recognisability and cement its status as the most authentic H.C. Andersen experience in the world. The new identity borrows from the past, put is presented in a modern way. The colors have a boldness to them, yet they have a sense of patina. Inspired by old ex-libris stamps, the new logo is a personal monogram to convey the authenticity of the museum, as the only museum of this kind in the world. To visually encapsulate H.C. Andersen's artistry and fairy tales, I incorporated ink strands as a fifth element. Ink, the primary medium of his craft, imbues the identity with an authentic touch that pays homage to the timeless creativity of the renowned writer. The new website greets the visitor and instantly shows them what to expect when visiting the museum. It is a primary touchpoint, and should eliminate any worries they might have.
